Finger ridge counts of three Amerindian populations of the Brazilian Amazonia (Suruí-Paitér, Kayapó-Xikrín and Suruí-Mudjetíre) were subjected to principal component analysis in order to verify the concept of developmental field (field theory). For both sexes, a clear tripartite divisioning (digit I, digits II-III, and digits IV-V) was obtained, corroborating results previously published for other populations.en_US
