Abstract
This thesis is the result of field work that brings the experience of a year of living together with the Kaingang, Southern Ge group, living in Upper Village Recreation / Indigenous Serrinha, located in the city of Ronda Alta - RS, region north the State. The indigenous population living on site is approximately 900 people. Ethnography was to know and analyze the elaborations of "old age" between Kaingang, and identify the knowledge that the social group triggers in your doing that characterizes this stage of life. The ethnographic research on the "old age" turned out to suggest that children are mediators of this construction. The Kaingang establish a construction around being Kofa.
